See what would be the future of Newcastle as Jackson Hasting clear Will Pryce……

Jackson Hastings’ Newcastle Knights fate seems all but sealed, according to reports down under.

Hastings has been with the Knights since the start of the 2023 NRL season and he has made 38 appearances in that time for the club. However, game time opportunities could be few and far between for the former Salford Red Devils and Wigan Warriors man in 2025.

As such, with his contract at the McDonald Jones Stadium expiring at the end of the upcoming season, it seems likely that Hastings will be allowed to move on and leave the Knights. According to a Zero Tacklereport, there’s ‘almost no chance’ of Hastings’ terms being renewed, with Adam Elliott and Jack Hetherington said to be in the same boat.

Hastings has been linked with a move to Super League on a regular basis over the last year or so and with the 29-year-old seemingly on the market, clubs will be keeping a keen eye on his situation, no doubt.

It comes following a report by The Mole that suggests Knights head coach Adam O’Brien could be set to go with a pivot partnership of Tyson Gamble and full-back Fletcher Sharpe this season.

That’s despite having Jackson Hastings, Jack Cogger, Phoenix Crossland and former Huddersfield Giants man Will Pryce at his disposal in the halves spots. That will come as a huge blow to Pryce who is entering the final year of his contract with the Knights, too.

The 22-year-old made just five NRL appearances in his first season in Australia, with most of his game time coming for Newcastle’s New South Wales Cup side. He scored a try on his debut for the club in a win over Parramatta Eels, but he’ll be hoping to make more of an impact at the club this year to secure his future down under.

Super League clubs are sure to be monitoring his situation as well and if his contract is allowed to tick down towards expiry, a move back to England could appear increasingly likely.
