Oprah Winfrey’s advice to Beyoncé helped her navigate her marriage to Jay-Z, emphasizing the importance of keeping their relationship private.

Hollywood has seen a lot of vibrant power couples, and Beyoncé and Jay-Z are some of the finest additions to the list. While the former is one of the most impactful singer-songwriter cum actress cum businesswomen the industry has had to date, the latter rapper cum businessman cum record executive has been listed as the greatest rapper of all time by major outlets.

But as much as this power couple is celebrated worldwide for having stuck together for more than two decades, their love life together has been tumultuous as well. In fact, it was Oprah Winfrey’s dating advice to the 43-year-old Queen Bey that seems to have helped make her life with the 55-year-old East Coast hip-hop rapper easier.

After knowing each other for nearly a decade and having dated for around eight years, Beyoncé Giselle Knowlestied the knot with Shawn Corey Carter to become a Carter herself, and the two have since been going as strong as ever. But as much as they try to keep their marriage out of the limelight, this couple had humble beginnings to begin with, too.

For one, though the pair have been wedded for more than sixteen years, their married life wasn’t without its own extreme difficulties and problems, including infidelity. During an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show years ago, the Cowboy Cartersinger shed light on the same while explaining why she’s elusive about this particular aspect of her life. She said:

I don’t actually talk about who I’m dating, who I’m not, because I think it’s important that I concentrate on the music. And when you start talking about those things, then that becomes bigger than you are.

As accurate as that is, it had Oprah Winfrey noting that she had some dating advice for her. The talk show host confessed, “I was sitting with the producer, and I said, ‘I’m gonna tell her to keep her mouth shut about her relationship because it should be private.’”

That advice is only understandable, for things like a person’s love life are always better kept private, away from all the judgemental eyes. And, perhaps, it was following this very advice that the Carter family has managed to stay together even after so many tribulations.

While she offered a significant piece of advice on how Beyoncé and Jay-Zcould stick together right by each other’s side and become a successful couple in Hollywood, Winfrey also went on to note and commend Queen Bey over just how outstandingly she has perfectly balanced her life all these years, both as an individual and a romantic partner.

Winfrey sincerely complimented her, saying, “You balance being the fierce, independent woman, with, obviously, a woman who also adores and loves her man.” To this, the TEXAS HOLD ‘EM singer gave an even more heartfelt response as she said, “And I would not be the woman I am if I did not go home to that man.” Aww. Talk about couple goals!
