36-year-old point guard has a burgeoning business empire.
s Steph Curry moves toward the later years of his career, he’s setting his sights on life beyond basketball, and his next big venture is already taking shape in the world of sports business.
The 36-year-old Curry is venturing into the business side of sports through an exciting partnership with CNBC. The network will launch a new weekend show titled “CNBC Sport: On The Record”, where Curry will serve as a central figure.
The show will feature interviews with key executives and influential figures within the sports business world, giving viewers an inside look at the intersection of sports and commerce.
Max Meyers, VP & senior executive producer of strategic verticals at CNBC, noted that sports are unique in the media landscape because of their “appointment-type viewing” status. As he put it, sports-along with the live market-continue to draw significant attention, creating opportunities for in-depth business discussions and analyses.
Behind the scenes of Curry’s new show
The collaboration between Curry and CNBC began when CNBC president KC Sullivan proposed the idea of focusing on sports as an increasingly valuable “investable asset.” To kickstart the project, the CNBC crew followed Curry during the 2024 NBA All-Star weekend to capture exclusive footage. The footage will play a crucial role in the show’s pilot season.
However, there were some shifts in the initial plans for the series. CNBC originally intended to feature a rematch of the popular 3-point contest from the previous year, where Curry would face off against stars like Sabrina Ionescu and Klay Thompson.
