The Boston Celtics could not go undefeated in preseason play, but they did show a lot of bright spots in the five games they played ahead of the start of the NBA’s 2024-25 regular season. The frontcourt rotation looked a lot more solid than some were worried that it might, with star big man Kristaps Porzingis out until sometime close to the end of the calendar year and veteran forward Al Horford easing into his age 38 campaign.

The team’s depth in general looked very good as well, with a number of deep rotation players showing flashes and only a handful looking like they need to put in some work to secure a spot in the rotation. Speaking after Boston’s preseason loss to the Toronto Raptors, Tom Giles, Chris Forsberg, Brian Scalabrine and Drew Carter offered up their takes on what stood out from the Celtics in preseason.
