Patrick Mahomes subtly hit out at his haters as he said his non-athletic build allowed him to score the game-winning touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers on October 20, as the Kansas City Chiefs improved to 6-0 for the season.

The quarterback had a tough day at the Levi’s Stadium and relied on the defense to give him the platform he needed to in the Week 7 clash to guide his team to a 28-18 victory in a rematch of Super Bowl LVIII.

And whilst he was a bit off color, he still came in clutch for his team. Particularly when he rushed for their third touchdown of the game from one yard with 14:13 minutes left in the fourth quarter by bulldozing through a defender.

“I wasn’t even really trying to run him over,” Mahomes said to Fox Sports of his touchdown. “I was just trying to get in the end zone.

“I’m a little heavy. I got some weight to me and ended up getting in there.”

Around 11 minutes after Mahomes‘ touchdown, which had improved the score to 21-12, Mecole Hardman ensured there was no way back for the 49ers when he rushed for 18 yards and brought the scores up to 28-12.

Then the Californian team’s quarterback, Brock Purdy, managed to scramble for a one yard touchdown like Mahomes did to offer a glimmer of hope with a minute on the clock, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

Who do the Chiefs play in Week 8?

So with the sixth win of the season in the bag for the Chiefs, it was another contest where they didn’t look particularly menacing but just relentlessly kept chipping away at the 49ers’ defense to eventually break them down.

The Raiders are currently cut adrift in last in the AFC West with a .333 record and just lost Davante Adams to the New York Jets, whilst the Chiefs lead the division. The game is due to kick off at 15:25 ET/12:25 PT in Nevada.
