Reese has offered him a challenge to mirror
LeBron by becoming just the second basketballer to be on the same court as his son, as well as on the same team, when his son
Kiyan is inevitably drafted into the pro leagues.
“How you feel about him [Bronny James] being able to play with his dad?,” Reese asked Kiyan on her Unapologetically Angel podcast. “Would you have wanted to play with Melo? Tell him, ‘Come out of retirement, Melo.'”
Reese later added, “Melo, come out of retirement. We need that.”
When could Kiyan Anthony be in the NBA?
Kiyan, aged 17, is currently playing high school basketball at the Long Island Lutheran Crusaders but doesn’t have long before he will inevitably graduate to the NBA, provided he steps up to college level.
And as things stand, you wouldn’t bet against that either with the 6ft 5in hooper currently considered a four-star recruit meaning he’s highly rated, which is part of why he already has a name, image, likeness deal in place.
He could even get his pick of the college teams too, with a series of NCAA Division I sides interested such as Indiana, Michigan, Florida State and Tennessee but at the moment it seems as though he’s leaning towards Syracuse.
That’s where his father won the NCAA national championship in 2003 before going on to be picked third in the draft that same year. Kiyan has already been spotted holding up one of their jerseys.
