Kaizer Chiefs could have two additional Bafana internationals come January.
The Sowetan Giants are interested in former Mamelodi Sundowns man Bongani Zungu.
Then there is South Africaâs number 24, Elias Mokwana, who has just terminated his contract with Tunisian side EspĂŠrance, who failed to pay the dynamic midfielder.
Presumably, this will pique the interest of an AmaKhosi management trying to fill the void of the injured Edson Castillo.
This wouldnât be the first time Kaizer Chiefs have gone for the KwaMhlanga-born winger, who the club approached in August â an offer that was denied by Sekhukhune United clearing the way for the Tunisian Giants.
Mokwana leaving Tunisia
Confirming the reports of EspĂŠranceâs breach of contract was Mokwanaâs attorney, Kabelo Mashigo: âMuch of the issues are confidential,â he told SABC Sportsâ Mazola Molefe.
Before adding that he âcan confirm that the club is in breach of the agreement. We provided them with notice to rectify the breach. They have not complied, leaving the player with no option but to accept the repudiation. Elias is focusing on the call-up now and once that is done, we will consider the next step.â
Green light for Zungu?
âItâs true there has been interest in Bongani Zungu by Kaizer Chiefs, but there be a lot that has to change at Chiefs for them to then actually sign Zungu,â a source told Soccer Laduma.
âThey are first looking at loaning out some players in that position like Sibongiseni âOxâ Mthethwa or Samkelo Zwane and then if something happens in that respect, then the club will be able to sign Zungu.
âSo, at the moment, it all depends on if Kaizer Chiefs can create space that can accommodate the signing of a new midfielder like Zungu. So, as much as they are interested in Zungu because of his experience, they are looking at how that could happen if they are to go ahead with signing Zungu.â
