Dramatic moments were experienced in the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Carolina Panthers, after a dangerous play where the Panthers receiver, Ja’Tavion Sanders, got the worst of it.
The duel was won by Kansas City 30-27 over Carolina, which keeps the reigning champions as leaders of the AFC West Division, and the best in the American Conference.
However, for a moment the statistics and the result between the Chiefs and the Panthers took a back seat to the way Sanders was injured.
This was Ja’Tavion Sanders’ injury
Sanders, who has been a young star in the Panthers’ offense, caught a 10-yard pass near the sideline before being tackled by Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie late in the first half.
He did a somersault in the air and landed on the back of his neck and lay on the ground for several minutes while his teammates gathered around him. Sanders was placed on a stretcher and taken to the locker room.
He appeared to raise his arms with a physiotherapist’s hand on them as he left the field.
Sanders caught three passes for 49 yards before the injury.
Sanders was taken to hospital, and fortunately the injury will not be serious.
“Carolina Panthers rookie tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders was released from the hospital and continues to undergo further evaluation for a neck injury,” the Carolina Panthers said in a press release.
The document noted that Sanders is able to move his arms and legs, and it will be assessed whether this injury will prevent him from playing in the next game against Tampa Bay.
