Coco Gauff and her triumph at the WTA Finals: "A new sheriff is in town"

American tennis player Coco Gauff is on top of the world after winning the WTA Finals, proving to be one of the best players in the world at the moment.

Despite a season full of ups and downs, Gauff entered the tournament as the third seed, and faced tough competition as she played against Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek in the group stage, and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals.

She finally overcame all the challenges and her victory against China’s Qinwen Zheng in the final was particularly sweet.

Gauff thanked all the support of her fans, which was joined by a personality who is more than recognized in the world of tennis.

“A new sheriff in town”

In a final full of great emotions, Gauff defeated Zheng 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) after an exhausting three-hour match.

The victory makes her the youngest player to win the WTA Finals title since Maria Sharapova in 2004, and the first American champion in a decade.

Rick Macci, former coach of Serena Williams, joined in the celebration on social media.

What I love about Coco Gauff’s game is that she can get so much better, and she will, as she already has the internal wiring of a champion and the blinding speed of a world-class track athlete. Buckle up WTA because a new sheriff will be coming to town in 2025. @CocoGauff.

Gauff’s recent rise can be attributed to her new coach, Matt Daly. After parting ways with Brad Gilbert in September, Gauff has shown remarkable improvement.

She won her first title of the season at the Auckland Open and then won the China Open against Karolina Muchova. From now on, she is very excited to work alongside Daly during the next season.

“I think that’s probably what it’s going to be like next year as well. I’m really excited for a new change and hopefully to improve other parts of my game,” said Gauff.

Former Australian tennis player Rennae Stubbs had made an interesting prediction about Gauff’s performance at the WTA Finals.

Before the tournament began, Stubbs had backed Coco Gauff saying that she could easily win the WTA Finals if she just focused on one important detail: her serve.
