Nearly six months into his retirement, at least one detail gained clarity when the former Crimson Tide’s new salary for his advisory position came into focus.
According to a document obtained by AL.com in a public records request, he will earn $500,000 a year in his new role, divided into monthly paychecks of $41,666. That pay grade began in March while the document states it covers a 40.0-hour work week.
In a twist, Saban’s base salary is actually higher than it was previously. As head coach, his annual salary was $305,000 last year with talent fees and bonuses pumping the total into the eight-figure range.
His last big paycheck came Feb. 29 with a total of $858,716 — more than that month’s paycheck for his successor. New Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer was paid $834,978 on the final day of February in his full first monthly paycheck since arriving in mid-January.
