BC Lions Sign Three 2023 Draft Picks
The future starts now for the BC Lions.
The club signed three players from their 2023 CFL Draft class on Tuesday. BC made the announcement on social media that it was adding linebacker Markcus Jean-Loescher, defensive back Jassin States-McClean, and defensive back Charlie Ringland.
Jean-Loescher was drafted in the fourth round. He attended training camp with the team, but did not play for the Lions in the 2023 season. The Toronto native recorded 79 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks and three pass breakups in 18 games at Saint Mary’s.
States-McClean also attended training camp after being selected in the sixth round. He also attended Saint Mary’s, playing in 27 games. His career numbers include 40 tackles and an interception. He attended the 2022 East-West Bowl game.
Ringland missed the 2023 season due to a knee injury. He was selected in the fifth round this past season. His career in college at the University of Saskatchewan featured a Canada West All-Star nod in 2022. He finished his career with 86 tackles, 15 pass deflections, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
BC has stayed active early in the offseason, signing 14 total players prior to the moves on Tuesday. The Lions finished the season with a 12-6 regular season record before losing in the playoffs to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-13.
