Get therapy’: Nick Saban has a harsh message for Ohio State football ….Read more

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Former Alabama coach Nick Saban had a harsh message for Ohio State football fans during an appearance Friday on the Pat McAfee Show.

“These Ohio State fans, they’ve got a psychotic obsession with Michigan,” Saban said. “They need to go get therapy or something to try to get it fixed because they have a chance to win the national championship … Nobody is excited about their opportunity to play because they lost to Michigan.”

The Buckeyes started the season 10-1 and entered The Game as a heavy favorite. However, Michigan escaped with a 13-10 win — leaving fans frustrated for multiple reasons.

The defeat marked Ohio State’s fourth straight loss in the rivalry.

However, it also featured head-scratching play. Ohio State’s biggest flaw is the interior of its offensive line while Michigan’s strength is its defensive tackles.

Coach Ryan Day admitted afterward the Buckeyes ran the ball to the interior too often instead of getting the ball to the perimeter.

While frustrating, Saban believes Ohio State has the pieces to move past the loss and make a run in the College Football Playoff.

“Those are correctable things,” Saban said. “I think this is probably the most talented team if they play to the standard and the level. Offense, defense — they’ve pretty much got it all.”

Ohio State beat Tennessee in the first round on Dec. 21.

OSU faces Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1 with a trip to the semifinals on the line.
