COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bergen Catholic High School’s football program has been kind to Ohio State in the last few seasons.
And one week ago, it got kinder.
Four-star cornerback Jordan Thomas committed to Ohio State, giving the Buckeyes another blue-chip talent at the position in the 2026 class. He was the team’s second cornerback pledge of the cycle.
Thomas’ addition to the class was a welcome one for cornerbacks coach Tim Walton, who has been stellar on the recruiting trail in his time at Ohio State. But before Thomas lands in Columbus, he’ll have one more season in New Jersey under head coach Vito Campanile
“He’s beyond a special kid,” Campanile told cleveland.com. “He’s done more than everything you could ask from a character integrity standpoint, they don’t get any better. He’s done everything I’ve ever asked him to do since he was 12 years old.”
Thomas, the No. 178 overall prospect and No. 17 cornerback in the 247Sports composite rankings, has known Campanile since the seventh grade. He laughed as he said it, but his future coach knew within “about five minutes” that Thomas was bound to be a special player.
“He’s a sponge,” Campanile said. “He wants to know the ‘why.’ He really is developmental, intricate in every aspect of football. He really looks at the detail of it.”
