Jobe Bellingham Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund in Advanced Talks to Sign Sunderland Midfielder
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Sunderland’s promising midfielder, Jobe Bellingham, in a deal valued at approximately £25 million. The agreement is expected to comprise an initial £21 million fee, supplemented by performance-related add-ons. This potential transfer would see Jobe follow a path similar to his older brother, Jude Bellingham, who previously made a successful move from Birmingham City to Dortmund before joining Real Madrid.
Jobe Bellingham, 19, has been instrumental in Sunderland’s recent promotion to the Premier League, contributing 11 goals and four assists over 90 appearances since his arrival from Birmingham City in 2023. His performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several top European clubs, including Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig. However, Dortmund appear to be leading the race, with reports suggesting that Jobe has already expressed his preference to join the Bundesliga side.
The Bellingham family’s familiarity with Dortmund, stemming from Jude’s successful tenure at the club, is believed to have influenced Jobe’s decision. During Jude’s time in Germany, Jobe frequently visited the Signal Iduna Park, developing an affinity for the club’s atmosphere and culture.
Dortmund’s management, including head coach Niko Kovac and sporting director Sebastian Kehl, have reportedly engaged in discussions with Jobe and his representatives, indicating the club’s serious intent to secure his services. Should the transfer materialize promptly, Jobe could make his debut in Dortmund’s upcoming Club World Cup match against Fluminense in New Jersey on June 17.
Despite signing a contract extension with Sunderland in August 2024, which ties him to the club until the summer of 2028, the allure of joining a club renowned for nurturing young talent like Dortmund may prove compelling for Jobe. Sunderland, on the other hand, are poised to negotiate firmly, given their strong bargaining position and the player’s importance to their squad.
As the transfer window progresses, all eyes will be on whether Borussia Dortmund can finalize the deal and add another Bellingham to their ranks, potentially setting the stage for Jobe to carve out his own legacy in European football.
