Carson Beck leaves Georgia to take Cam Ward’s place in Miami
One of the top quarterback prospects for the NFL Draft has removed his name from the list, after Carson Beck announced that he will return to the NCAA with the Miami Hurricanes. The former Georgia quarterback was in the pools as a possible third quarterback in the next draft.
The two that are considered for the first round, and the first selections, are Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, with many unknowns behind them. Beck was after them, but his bonuses fell in his final season with the Georgia Bulldogs, which also ended with a serious elbow injury.
Beck had been announced eligible on December 28, after his arm surgery was announced that would keep him out of the College Football Playoff. A few days ago he took the first step to return to the NCAA, by entering the transfer portal, although he indicated the option of not being contacted.
A change of heart of sorts
That indicated that he already had a destination in mind and on Friday, he committed to The U, where he would be Cam Ward’s successor and the school where his girlfriend, the basketball player and influencer Hanna Cavinder, is.

The 2025 season would be Beck’s sixth in the NCAA, always with Georgia. It began in 2020, the year of the pandemic, in which the NCAA decided to give a pass to an extra season due to everything that happened due to Covid. He was the substitute for Stetson Bennett in the year of the two-time championship of 2022 and the last two he was a starter. For his career, Beck has completed 68.0% of his passes for 7,912 yards, 58 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. In 2024, with less talent around, he had his worst year, with 12 intercepted passes and just 64.7% completions, falling from 72.4% in 2023. He looks to bounce back on a fresh start in Florida
