Just inn: Lebron James message to Ohio State coach after victory

Ohio State’s National Championship win has LeBron James making an admission that the rest of the NBA may want to take notice of

Ohio State’s National Championship win over Notre Dame brought out plenty of stars and one of them was no other than Akron’s LeBron James.

The future Hall of Famer and Los Angeles Lakers small forward was in attendance to watch Ohio State hand Notre Dame a 34-23 loss. James is a known Buckeyes fan and if he went the college route, he has admitted that he would have gone to Ohio State.

James and the Lakers are 23-18 and were coming off a 111-88 win over the Washington Wizards when James was asked about Ohio State’s win. The NBA star revealed that seeing Ohio State win at that level inspired him.

We are diehard Ohio State fans,” James said of him and his family. “Anytime you see a championship-caliber team go out and play to a level of excellence is always inspiring … I’m always inspired by greatness

James is averaging 23.7 points, 9.0 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game for the fifth-place Lakers. If he wants to go on another championship run, the Lakers would have to take a big step forward.

Ohio State went on a great run after dropping their final game of the regular season to Michigan on Nov. 30. The Buckeyes defeated Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame to win their first title in a decade.

The former Cleveland Cavaliers star was in attendance for the 2024 National Championship win over Oregon too, so perhaps Ohio State knows who they need to have in attendance to win it all.

Ryan Day capturing his first title and moving to 70-10 as a head coach in the same game was a special moment. Day is now one of three active head coaches to have a National Championship win. He joins Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Georgia’s Kirby Smart.

As far as James taking some inspiration from the Buckeyes, he is already a four-time NBA Champion and arguably the best basketball player to ever do it. His years are limited to have another championship run, so the Lakers will need to put it together soon if he wants to follow in Ohio State’s steps.
