Biggest need Bucks must address in 2024 NBA offseason
The Milwaukee Bucks were the favorites in the Eastern Conference going into the playoffs, but they were upset by Coach Rick Carlisle’s Indiana Pacers considerably earlier than anticipated.
After dealing with injuries to several of its best players, including global superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks are about to start making summer adjustments.
The future prospects get interesting when you consider that the Bucks will have the 23rd and 33rd picks in the 2024 NBA Draft later this month. With almost all of the players on the team’s depth chart, coach Doc Rivers and team management can now afford to take their time fitting the skilled new and returning players into the lineup.
Milwaukee has recently shifted its attention away from the court. Patrick Beverly, the guard for the Bucks, recently cleared the air over his unusual behavior during viral interviews. The “Greek Freak,” a superstar for the Bucks, was embroiled in unexpected turmoil during the offseason.
Bucks biggest offseason need: Smart, savvy draft choices-
With so many possible sleeper picks available at the end of the first and early stages of the second rounds, the Bucks might be in the driver’s seat come June. Today’s draft is full of young, untested talent, so an astute team like Milwaukee might unearth one or two steals in this year’s selection.
A recent mock draft has the Bucks selecting Carlton Carrington out of Pitt with the number 23 pick. An athletic, defensive minded guard like Carrington would be perfect for the Bucks if he’s still there at pick 23.
Another player who could fall to the Bucks at pick 33 is Terrence Shannon Jr. of Illinois. Shannon Jr. has been compared to Kelly Oubre Jr. and is the type of player who could thrive on an established team like the Bucks. Shannon Jr. is used to carrying the load both at Texas Tech and Illinois. He has the talent to take over games and make big plays against elite defenders; playing with guys like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Middleton could allow him to take an evolutionary leap in his career arc practically overnight.
