The Nike Kobe 4 “Gold Medal” sneakers, a tribute to Kobe Bryant and the “Redeem Team”’s 2008 Olympic gold medal win, are set to rerelease for the first time since their original debut. This long-awaited rerelease marks 15 years since the shoes first launched in 2009. The updated version remains true to the original design, featuring a predominantly metallic gold leather upper with a snakeskin texture on the toe and heel counter. The Flyknit quarter showcases the red, white, and blue colors of Team USA, and Kobe’s Olympic jersey number, 10, is displayed on the heel, replacing his usual number 24. Additionally, the insole includes a gold medal graphic along with the date of Team USA’s victory at the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.
Given the current high demand for Kobe Bryant sneakers and the fact that the Kobe 4 “Gold Medal” has never been rereleased, the upcoming release in August is highly anticipated. The original version of this sneaker has been sold for over $1,500 on resale platforms, making it one of the most sought-after colorways of the model.
Kobe Bryant made his Olympic debut for Team USA in 2008, serving as the team captain and leading the squad to victory after the team’s disappointing bronze finishes in the 2004 Olympics and 2006 FIBA World Championship. Although Bryant wore the Nike Hyperdunk during the tournament, the commemorative Kobe 4 was released the following summer, after the model’s initial launch in early 2009.
The Nike Kobe 4 “Gold Medal” will be available for purchase on August 6 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers, with a retail price of $190.
