In a significant move within women’s college basketball, Montana State’s standout forward Marah Dykstra has committed to transfer to Michigan State University. Dykstra, a junior from Vancouver, B.C., brings a wealth of experience and a track record of clutch performances to the Spartans.

A Stellar Season with the Bobcats

Dykstra played a pivotal role in Montana State’s historic 2024–25 season, which saw the Bobcats achieve a program-record 30 wins and clinch their first Big Sky Conference Tournament title since 2022. Her most memorable moment came during the championship game against rival Montana, where she secured a 58-57 victory with a buzzer-beating putback, sending the Bobcats to the NCAA Tournament.

Throughout the season, Dykstra consistently delivered strong performances. She averaged 14.7 points per game, ranking fifth in the Big Sky Conference, and led the league with a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio. Her efficiency was evident in her 54.5% field goal percentage, placing her second in the conference.

Notably, Dykstra recorded a career-high 29 points against Idaho State, showcasing her ability to dominate offensively. She also earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors multiple times, highlighting her consistent impact on the court.

International Experience and Leadership

Beyond her collegiate achievements, Dykstra has represented Canada on the international stage. Her experience with Team Canada, including a bronze medal finish at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup, has honed her skills and leadership qualities. She averaged 6.0 rebounds per game during the tournament, underscoring her presence on the boards.
