According to a WKRG report, Clarke County head coach Robert Carter was arrested Friday afternoon

According to a report by WKRG’s Simone Eli in Florida, Clarke County High School (Alabama) head football coach Robert Carter was arrested by Okaloosa County Sheriffs on a traffic stop Friday afternoon on 11 warrants.

Per Eli’s report, Carter was arrested in Niceville, Florida and will be extradited to Clarke County. Also according to the report, Carter is under investigation for having an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student at Clarke County.

According to Call News in Alabama, Carter was placed on administrative leave and removed from his school duties, earlier this week, bu the Clarke County Board of Education.

The school board’s actions against Carter followed a joint announcement by the Grove Hill Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff’s Office and the 1st Judicial Major Crimes Task Force that an investigation into Carter’s alleged inappropriate relationship had been launched.

Carter took over the Bulldogs in 2023 and led the program to a 7-6 record in his first season at the helm. In 2024 campaign, Carter guided Clarke County to a 8-4 mark playing in the AHSAA’s Class 2A, Region 1. Previously, Carter was the head coach at Beauregard High School, where his team won the 2016 AHSAA Class 5A state championship. Prior to becoming the Beauregard head coach, he spent eight years as an assistant coach with the Hornets, and has also worked as assistant coach at Crenshaw Christian, Russell County and Lanett.
