NRL Casualty Ward: Superstar undergoes surgery; Hopoate fracture fears

Mitchell Moses has undergone surgery on a biceps rupture will commence rehabilitation with an aim to return to training in the 2025 pre-season.

The halfback suffered the injury during his series-winning performance for NSW in the State of Origin decider.

Teammate Charlie Guymer is also set to miss the remainder of the 2024 season as well after sustaining a syndesmosis injury in Round 19. The rookie forward will undergo surgery in the coming days.

The Eels have also provided an update on Junior Paulo’s expected return from a Lisfranc injury, with the skipper set to return next season.

Manly youngster Lehi Hopoate did not return in the second half of his side’s match against the Titans after suffering a suspected fractured eye socket.

The injury occurred in a tackle in the 12th minute and swelling built up in the eye as the first half progressed before it was almost completely closed over. Hopoate scored his team’s second try in the 33rd minute and left the field soon after.

Talking post-game, Manly coach Anthony Seibold said the outside back is looking at 4-5 weeks on the sidelines.

Penrith winger Paul Alamoti is facing an extended stint on the sidelines after he suffered a fractured forearm in Sunday’s clash with the Dolphins.

The injury occurred while he was attempting to tackle Jack Bostock in the dying moments of the first half, with Alamoti heading straight up the tunnel. He will be sent for further scans to determine the extent of the injury.
