One of Kobe Bryant’s most popular sneakers will soon receive a makeover in a shade of orange that’s so bright, it looks like it’s glowing.
Reports of a “Total Orange” Nike Kobe 6 Protro sneaker surfaced in Novemberand now, an in-hand look at the pair has emerged. As expected, the upcoming release is covered entirely in a “Total Orange” shade save for some metallic silver accents on the Swoosh and tongue Kobe sheath logos. Further breaking the tonal look up are segments of the midsole, which are colored in a lighter Cosmic Clay shade. Lastly, the sneaker features a clear rubber outsole.
While it may not be the first bold Kobe 6 colorway to hit the courts — the sneaker’s “FC Barcelona Mango” and “Grinch” styles come to mind — it’s certainly a contender for the brightest. The closest comparison to the upcoming “Total Orange” look would be 2011’s All-Star Game “Orange County Sunset” colorway.
The upgraded Protro version of Bryant’s Nike Kobe 6 was introduced in 2020 with the return of the fan-favorite “Grinch” colorway for Christmas. From a tech perspective, updates to the Kobe 6 Protro included swapping the original forefoot Zoom Air cushioning with a more modern Air Zoom Turbo unit and replacing the heel Phylon with Cushlon foam.
The unreleased Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Total Orange” pictured here was recently sold by seller @nopokicks for $1,750, but the good news is that the sneaker is scheduled for a launch later this year at a far more palatable price. With a SKU of IH1871-800, readers can expect the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Total Orange” to be released this fall for a retail price of $190.
