The Boilermaker Special, a vehicle made to look like a vintage train that serves as one of Purdue University’s mascots, was involved in a fatal highway crash this week that killed one person and injured two others.
The Boilermaker Special vehicle collided with another car on US 52 at Wyandotte Road in Sheffield Township, killing the driver on impact. The driver has been identified as 20-year-old Madison Cook.
Purdue confirmed the tragic multi-vehicle accident in an online statement.
The crash occurred in Indiana’s Tippecanoe County, and “the two students who were on the Special” who sustained injuries “have been treated and released from the hospital.”
