The rumors aren’t true: The truth about the OSU Marching Band documentary
This story was updated because an earlier version included an inaccuracy).
Have you been seeing rumors about the Ohio State University Marching Band’s documentary set to release on Netflix?
Well, those rumors aren’t true.
Ohio State’s marching band will not release a documentary. According to the communications director for the band, Konner Barr, this rumor came from social media accounts that spread false information as clickbait.
The band does, however, have an almost two-hour documentary called “TBDBITL 141” on YouTube, which was produced by staff members Joe Camoriano and Aaron Nestor in 2020.
Barr said it’s common for different Facebook groups like Buckeye Pride Forever and The Ohio State University Marching Band to post false stories about Ohio State, yet confirms they have no affiliation with the actual The Ohio State University Marching Band page that is verified with a blue checkmark and has almost 500,000 followers.
Despite failed attempts to report these groups, Barr said the best way to avoid false information is to clarify rumors about Ohio State’s marching band from other pages with the band’s official site
The false information has gained roughly 300 likes on both Facebook pages, however, Barr said the band hasn’t posted anything to debunk this recent rumor as they’ve been preoccupied with the playoffs.
“I will say traction on this has picked up for a couple weeks now, but we’re in the heat of our season,” Barr said.
