Angel Reese Receives High Praise From Fans Across Social Media
There’s a national spotlight on the WNBA that the league doesn’t regularly hone. The arrival of a couple of star rookies has turned heads. One in particular has been Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese.
The Top-10 pick from the 2024 WNBA draft has seen her name go viral throughout the past year across social media platforms. She was a star for the LSU Tigers in college and her fandom has translated quickly to her days in professional basketball.
Despite not playing much, Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin quickly became a fan-favorite around the WNBA for her charismatic personality. Fans were first introduced to Martin at Iowa when she was teammates with the likely soon-to-be Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark.
She was picked by the Aces with the sixth pick in the second round of April’s WNBA draft.
With the regular season coming to an end, playoff teams are resting their starters as they prepare for the playoffs, giving opportunities for bench players to shine. Martin is one of those players, who impressed early in the matchup with the Dallas Wings.
In fact, Martin even earned a new nickname from the Aces’ official social media admin, calling her “MON3YYY MARTINNN”.
Martin logged 32 minutes vs. Dallas, scoring seven points with six rebounds and four assists. The nickname might be short-lived, as she was just 1-for-5 from the 3-point line.
