UGA Redcoat Band turns to fundraising for new drum equipment. How much they seek to raise

That sound of a drumline firing up Georgia football fans a couple hours before a game needs a tune-up, according to leaders of the Georgia Redcoat Marching band.

The drums used by the band are about seven years old, about three years longer than usual replacement and maintenance, said John Cypert, percussion coordinator of the UGA band.

The drumline is probably the most attractive and exciting musical part of our presentation, and it’s really important that they have great equipment and fantastic players and world-class repertoire,” said band director Brett Bawcum in a social media post. “We think we have the second two of those three taken care of, but we know that our drums are in dire need of replacement this coming year due to the typical replacement schedule of collegiate drums.

How much does the UGA band need to raise?

Through Paypal donations, the Georgia Redcoats seek $41,000 to replace the drumline with new equipment.
